Originally developed from an independent 2009 pilot, it became Netflix’s first Portuguese‑language original production and the platform’s second non‑English series, following the Spanish‑language ''Club de Cuervos''.

Set in an unspecified future, the narrative follows 20‑year‑olds from the impoverished “Inland” who are given a single chance to undergo “The Process,” a rigorous and often lethal selection system that determines who may join the privileged society known as the “Offshore.” While most candidates are simply dismissed, some perish during the trials, and ultimately only three percent succeed.
