== Summary ==

On 26 September 2021, a catastrophic geological event occurs in Los Angeles when a vast sinkhole opens at the La Brea Tar Pits and along Wilshire Boulevard, engulfing numerous civilians, vehicles, and structures, including the Petersen Automotive Museum. The individuals who fall into the chasm regain consciousness in a hostile primeval landscape, where prehistoric fauna and environmental dangers force them to cooperate for survival.

The narrative centres on the Harris family, Eve, Gavin, Izzy, and Josh, who are separated during the disaster. Gavin begins experiencing vivid temporal visions that appear to reveal the locations and circumstances of Eve and Josh, guiding his efforts to reunite the family. The emergence of the sinkhole, combined with sightings of Teratornis, draws the attention of the United States Department of Homeland Security, which is already investigating a similar anomaly in the Mojave Desert. Over time, investigators determine that the sinkholes function as spacetime portals leading to the same geographic location in 10,000 BC. The survivors, aware that the portal may close permanently, search for a means of returning to their own time.

A significant development arises when a child from a prehistoric village must travel through the portal to 1988, as he is destined to become the future father of Josh and Izzy. Failure to ensure his passage would erase the siblings from existence, establishing a critical causal paradox within the storyline.

In Season Two, the origin of the sinkholes is revealed to be the Lazarus Project, an initiative led by Gavin’s estranged father James Mallet and operated by individuals from the year 2076. The project’s objective is to address severe resource depletion in their era and to advance research into de‑extinction and temporal manipulation.

The third and final season explores the consequences of a destroyed time portal, which destabilizes temporal boundaries and causes entities from disparate eras—including Mesozoic fauna—to appear. Gavin and his allies confront the Reisander Group, an organization seeking to exploit time travel for strategic and militaristic purposes, culminating in a struggle to prevent the weaponization of temporal technology.
