== Summary ==

Small meteorite fragments begin falling to Earth, each containing a substance that activates a long‑dormant virus embedded within the human genome. Once triggered, the virus initiates a rapid mutation process that transforms infected individuals into an alien species. Possessing a collective hive consciousness, the transformed beings become wholly committed to converting the remainder of humanity, advancing their objective with remarkable speed and coordination.

Only a small group of uninfected survivors, those with specialised medical and scientific expertise, retain the knowledge required to develop antibodies capable of reversing the mutation. Their efforts represent the final barrier against the complete assimilation of the human population.
