== Summary ==

Much of the narrative centres on a small Alpine hotel situated beneath the foreboding presence of a remote mountain peak. It is here that the ''Pilgrim Sisters'', a mind‑reading act, become entangled in ''Professor Crevet’s'' efforts to resist the encroachment of the Ixodes, tentacled, brain‑like ''extra-terrestrial'' organisms whose arrival poses a grave threat.

Quentin Lawrence, director of the original television serial, later adapted the material into a 1958 feature film titled ''The Trollenberg Terror''. The cinematic version employed more explicit horror imagery, including close‑ups of severed heads and scenes depicting melting flesh. Laurence Payne appeared in both productions, although the film cast Forrest Tucker as the principal protagonist, Alan Brooks, a United Nations scientific investigator. Stuart Saunders also reprised his role as Dr. Dewhurst, an early casualty of climber George Brett, who becomes subject to alien influence.
