Summary
Set in the California Old West of the 1890s, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. follows Harvard‑educated bounty hunter Brisco County, Jr., hired by powerful industrialists to capture the notorious John Bly gang—the same outlaws who murdered his father. But this is no ordinary frontier. Rockets are built in barns, telepathic horses roam the plains, and a mysterious artifact known as the Orb grants extraordinary powers to those who possess it.
As Brisco pursues Bly, he navigates a world where Western adventure blends with science fiction and sly humour. He is aided by his loyal horse Comet, earnest attorney Socrates Poole, and rival‑turned‑ally Lord Bowler, while crossing paths with colourful figures such as inventor Professor Wickwire and saloon singer Dixie Cousins. The result is a playful, genre‑bending romp that affectionately spoofs Western clichés while embracing “the coming thing.”
