Summary
Set in the year 2064, the narrative unfolds in a society in which human cloning has become routine. Corporations, government agencies, and law‑enforcement bodies employ cloned personnel as part of standard operational practice.
The story centres on Detective James Aidan, a reserved and disciplined investigator. Aidan becomes involved in a disturbing homicide case when a succession of murder victims are identified as his own cloned counterparts. The killings force him and his partner, Detective Riley, to pursue the perpetrator responsible for targeting members of Aidan’s clone line.
As the investigation progresses, evidence suggests that Riley’s cloned version is also at risk. The detectives must determine who is orchestrating the attacks and uncover the motives behind a campaign directed specifically at their genetically replicated selves.
