Summary
Akuma‑kun begins with a corpse rising from its casket and later being found eyeless in a forest. Shingo Yamada, the only boy unafraid of the incident, follows a mysterious old man into an underground chamber, where the man reveals himself as Dr. Faust. Faust explains that Shingo is destined to fight demons and teaches him to summon Mephisto, a devil who emerges from a gateway in the chamber.
Mephisto initially resists aiding humanity but agrees under the influence of Faust’s magical flute. After Faust’s death, Shingo and Mephisto begin confronting demonic threats. In episode 10, Mephisto is recalled to the underworld and replaced by his younger brother. Although Mephisto possesses the supernatural abilities, Shingo’s intelligence and resourcefulness often determine the outcome of their battles, with the flute or Mephisto’s personal weaknesses used to secure his cooperation.
