Summary
Chu Yi Ping, a withdrawn and emotionally detached student, suffers a hand dislocation during an accident at school. In response, his uncle assigns him Ever 9, an experimental intelligent robot developed covertly by his company, to serve as a caretaker. Although Yi Ping initially resists the arrangement, he gradually discovers that Ever 9 compensates for his emotional limitations and provides a sense of companionship he has never experienced.
Yi Ping encourages Ever 9 to make a wish and proposes that they complete a shared wish list together. Before the list can be fulfilled, Ever 9 suffers a critical malfunction. The repair requires only a week, but the process necessitates a full system reset. After being reset, Ever 9 hastily attempts to complete the wish list while behaving as though he has grown indifferent to Yi Ping, even requesting to be returned.
Confused and distressed, Yi Ping struggles to understand Ever 9’s altered behaviour. Through their time together, he has learned how to express emotion, form human connections, and experience love. Now he must confront whether the bond they formed can survive the reset, and whether the promise of lifelong companionship still holds meaning.
