Summary
Ark II is a mid‑1970s Saturday‑morning science‑fiction series set in a 25th‑century Earth ravaged by war and ecological collapse. As humanity slowly begins the long process of rebuilding, a small, more technologically advanced community constructs a massive, mobile research vehicle known as the Ark II.
The Ark II is crewed by four members: Jonah, the mission commander; Ruth and Samuel, two young specialists; and Adam, a highly intelligent, speaking chimpanzee. Their mission is to travel across the devastated landscape, offering assistance, knowledge, and hope to isolated communities struggling to rebuild their societies.
Each episode introduces a new settlement facing a distinct social, moral, or environmental challenge. The Ark II team works to resolve these issues while promoting pro‑social and ecological values. True to their principles, the crew refuses to use weapons of any kind, even in self‑defence, relying instead on diplomacy, ingenuity, and compassion.
