Summary
Asteroid is a two‑part American disaster mini‑series centred on the discovery of a large near‑Earth object on a collision trajectory with the planet. The narrative follows astronomer Dr. Lily McKee, who identifies the threat and collaborates with government disaster specialist Jack Wallach in an effort to prevent large‑scale devastation. Initial attempts to intercept the asteroid coincide with the fall of smaller precursor fragments in Kansas, generating rising public concern and establishing the central crisis.
The second part depicts the consequences of the asteroid’s fragmentation into hundreds of pieces, one of which strikes Dallas with destructive force comparable to a nuclear detonation.
