Summary
A brief loss of artificial gravity aboard the interplanetary cruise vessel Avenue 5 and the accidental death of its chief engineer result in the ship deviating 0.21 degrees from its planned trajectory. The misalignment extends the return journey to Earth to an estimated three years, far exceeding the vessel’s intended eight‑week cruise duration. With provisions designed only for the original itinerary, the remaining crew are required to maintain order among the passengers, manage limited resources, and work to ensure the safe navigation of the ship back to Earth.
