Summary
Dr. Torahiko Koenji, an eccentric but brilliant scientist, uncovers a set of ancient inscriptions buried within the planet’s oldest geological stratum. The text, identified as originating from a civilisation known as the Galaxy, describes thirteen legendary artefacts called Star Pieces, said to be hidden across the Earth. According to the writings, whoever assembles all thirteen Star Pieces will be granted the fulfilment of any single wish.
To locate these artefacts, Koenji constructs a series of autonomous search robots. However, a trio of these machines, led by the rogue unit Cobrander, is activated before completing its programmed sleep‑education cycle. Lacking moral conditioning, the group turns to criminal activity in pursuit of the Star Pieces.
By contrast, three other robots, Kabutack, Tentorina, and Kuwajiro, successfully complete their full learning sequence. They form an alliance with Koenji’s grandson, Yuzuru Koenji, and his friends Sayuri Mitaka and Kuranosuke Kichijouji. Together, the group undertakes the global search for the Star Pieces while repeatedly confronting and countering the schemes of Cobrander’s faction.
