Summary
Che Chen is a 26‑year‑old assistant manager at an investment trust who, despite his professional success, has long felt an emotional void stemming from the absence of his father. Raised solely by his mother, Chen Mu, he has never known the identity of the man who left before his birth, a mystery that has shaped his sense of self.
A sudden and unforeseen accident transports Che 27 years into the past, depositing him in the year 1989, one year before his own birth. While attempting to understand his circumstances, Che encounters Zhen Zhen Ye, a trusting and idealistic 22‑year‑old woman who, to his astonishment, is his mother’s closest friend in that era.
As Che navigates the unfamiliar world of the late 1980s, he becomes increasingly aware that his actions may influence the events that will shape his mother’s life—and, by extension, his own existence. Confronted with the ethical and emotional implications of altering the past, Che must determine whether to intervene in the unfolding events or preserve the timeline that ultimately led to his birth.
