Summary
The narrative is set in the fictional European monarchy of Lauretania, a state confronted with an unresolved succession crisis. The ruling couple’s only child, a daughter, exhibits persistent behavioural unruliness, prompting significant concern within the royal household. The monarchy places considerable emphasis on scientific advancement, supporting research initiatives aimed both at maintaining the superior quality of the nation’s racehorses and at examining childhood behavioural disorders through the Psycho II Research Institute.
Following an experimental attempt to correct the princess’s conduct through the administration of a behavioural‑modifying tablet, her behaviour becomes increasingly uncontrollable. Central to the plot is the development of a device known as the Bambinot, an apparatus capable of first visualising and subsequently materialising, via a television screen, a hypothetical offspring generated from parents seated in specially designed chairs.
