Summary
The series follows Kate Kane and later Ryan Wilder as they confront their personal traumas and assume the mantle of vigilante justice in Gotham City.
In the first season, following the unexplained disappearance of Gotham’s vigilante Batman, Kate Kane uncovers the truth that her cousin Bruce Wayne was the Dark Knight. Determined to continue his mission, she uses her military training and the resources left behind in the Batcave to become a new symbol of justice, quickly dubbed “Batwoman” by the media. She is supported by Luke Fox, a former Wayne Enterprises technician, and her stepsister Mary Hamilton, who eventually discovers Kate’s secret identity.
Meanwhile, Kate’s father Jacob Kane has established a private security force known as the Crows, created to fill the void left by Batman’s absence. Their operations bring them into direct conflict with the Wonderland Gang, a violent criminal organisation led by the unpredictable and sadistic Alice. As Batwoman attempts to prove to the Crows that she is an ally, she uncovers a devastating truth: Alice is actually Beth, her long‑lost fraternal twin, believed dead since a childhood car accident.
