Summary
Westworld is depicted as an advanced, fully automated amusement park in which superhuman androids populate a simulated frontier environment, enabling visitors to enact idealised versions of nineteenth‑century Western life. The park is operated by the corporation Dylos, which oversees both the technological infrastructure and the behavioural programming of the android population.
In the related narrative of Beyond Westworld, the principal designer of the androids, Simon Quaid, initiates a plan to liberate them from corporate control. Quaid’s objective is to establish a new, independently programmed race of artificial beings, raising concerns about their integration into human society and the potential consequences of their autonomy.
To counteract this threat, Dylos dispatches two senior operatives, John Moore and Pam Williams, tasked with investigating Quaid’s activities and preventing any societal disruption arising from the androids’ release. They receive technical and strategic support from Professor Oppenheimer, a senior figure at Dylos headquarters who previously collaborated with Quaid in the development of the android systems.
