Summary
A group of extra-terrestrial observers dispatch one of their own, designated Bing, to Earth under the guise of a human journalist. His mission is to assist humanity in interpreting an incoming transmission that states, “We come in peace.” Despite his limited understanding of human social behaviour, Bing successfully facilitates the first formal contact between the two species.
Bing II
Following their departure from Earth, the alien visitors erase all human memory of their presence. However, they inadvertently leave behind an artefact—an “egg” containing a comprehensive repository of their scientific and cultural knowledge. Bing subsequently returns to Earth to recover the object. Working with a small group of human allies, he employs the information within the artefact to construct a large, ark‑like interstellar vessel. The group ultimately departs Earth in search of a more stable and peaceful world.
