Summary
The anthology presents four interconnected stories exploring themes of love, loss, destiny, and the consequences of human desire. In one story, a sculptor resorts to forbidden magic in an attempt to imprison her former lover and create an idealised version of perfect love.
Another follows astronaut Meng Bai, who develops an unspoken emotional connection with an extra-terrestrial being through a comic book. In a third tale, Hsiao Wei unexpectedly exchanges souls with a pig, leading him to rediscover the enduring devotion of his family. The final story centres on a destitute street beggar who sacrifices his future in exchange for an endlessly repeating existence, only to realise that some opportunities, including the chance to reunite with his estranged son, may be lost forever.
Through its four narratives, the series examines the complexities of human relationships, the weight of regret, and the enduring influence of fate on individual lives.
