Summary

Robocon is introduced as one of the earliest students enrolled at the Robot School, an institution dedicated to training young robots for integration into human society. He is constructed by Mr. Gantz, a teacher‑robot responsible for supervising his development. As part of his practical training, Robocon travels from his native alternate dimension to the human world, where he takes up residence, uninvited and indefinitely, with the Kurihara family.

Robocon’s assigned objective is to fulfil the school’s guiding theme: “become friendly with humans.” Each week, Mr. Gantz evaluates his progress and awards a heart‑shaped seal for perfect performance. Accumulating ten seals is considered a significant achievement, though Robocon’s motivation is less academic than personal; he strives primarily to earn the admiration of Robina, a young female robot for whom he has developed a strong affection.

Life with the Kurihara family proves challenging. Robocon’s well‑meaning but clumsy attempts to assist frequently result in broken furniture, household disruption, and excessive electricity consumption, his primary energy source. Despite these difficulties, his gentle temperament and earnest desire to succeed underpin the central question of the series: whether Robocon, in such circumstances, can truly accomplish his mission of forming meaningful bonds with humans.
