Summary
A major earthquake strikes Makuhara, in northern Chiba, prompting 18‑year‑old Yamato to travel to the affected area in search of his friend Kiichi. En route, he encounters Takeru, who is heading to Makuhara as a volunteer in the disaster‑relief effort. Upon arrival, the two discover that the city, despite being under government lockdown, remains structurally intact.
They soon learn that a mysterious virus has caused the deaths of all adults within the zone, leaving the surviving children to administer the city independently. As the juvenile leadership struggles to maintain order and ensure survival, they are forced to confront both internal challenges and the actions of the government, which seeks to suppress the truth about the catastrophe.
