Summary
The series is set within the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., and follows an outbreak in which extraterrestrial insects infiltrate and infect members of Congress.
The narrative centres on Laurel Healy, a documentary filmmaker who accepts a position in the office of her brother, Democratic Senator Luke Healy, in order to obtain financial support for her next film project. During her employment, she uncovers a covert phenomenon in which alien organisms partially consume and replace the brain tissue of affected individuals, including elected officials. In certain instances, the infestation results in fatal cranial rupture.
A recurring musical motif throughout the series is the use of “You Might Think” by The Cars, which functions as an auditory indicator associated with characters who have been compromised by the alien presence.
