Summary
Lieutenant Buck Rogers and Buddy Wade are crew members aboard a dirigible surveying the North Pole in 1938. After crashing during a violent storm, they release an experimental Nirvano Gas, unknowingly placing themselves in suspended animation. Buried by an avalanche, the craft remains undiscovered for five centuries. The two men awaken in 2440, emerging into a future Earth dominated by the dictator Killer Kane and his organisation of “super‑racketeers”. Resistance to Kane survives only within the fortified Hidden City, led by scientist Dr. Huer and Air Marshal Kragg.
Rogers and Wade join the resistance and undertake a mission to Saturn, accompanied by Wilma Deering, to seek military support against Kane. Saturn is governed by Aldar, the Council of the Wise, and Prince Tallen. Their efforts are complicated by the arrival of Kane’s envoys, led by Captain Laska, resulting in a prolonged struggle between the two factions for Saturnian allegiance.
