Summary
In the television adaptation, Captain Midnight is re‑envisioned as a veteran of the Korean War who commands the Secret Squadron as a privately operated organisation, marking a departure from the structure established in the earlier radio programme. As in the Fawcett comic series, the only major character retained from the radio version is Ichabod “Ikky” Mudd, portrayed by Sid Melton, who serves primarily as comic relief.
Another principal figure in the television cast is Dr. Aristotle “Tut” Jones, the Squadron’s resident scientist, played by character actor Olan Soule. Soule is notable for being the only performer to appear in both the radio and television incarnations of the franchise; in the radio series, he portrayed Agent Kelly (SS‑11) rather than Dr. Jones.
