Summary
Set in the year 2147, the Metal Wars have raged for years, with humanity steadily losing ground to its machine adversaries. Determined to eradicate the last surviving pockets of resistance, Lord Dread, ruler of the Volcanian Empire, creates the Bio‑Dreads, advanced mechanical enforcers engineered to hunt down and digitise humans. This process converts individuals into computerised entities, forcing them into involuntary service under Dread’s control.
Humanity’s final hope lies with Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, an elite resistance unit whose members each specialise in a distinct field of combat. Equipped with technologically advanced power suits, they possess capabilities that allow them to stand toe‑to‑toe with the Bio‑Dreads.
Because the antagonists were machines rather than living beings, the series was able to depict extensive combat and destruction without provoking the same level of criticism from media watchdogs that might have arisen had the heroes been shown killing human opponents.
