Summary
Casper and the Christmas Angels centres on Casper, an eleven‑year‑old boy whose ambition is to become an astronaut and explore deep space. His aspirations are complicated by a significant change in his family’s circumstances: a move from an urban environment to a rural mill. The relocation is prompted by his parents, Cohen and Jaspers, who believe the countryside will better support the needs of Casper’s blind sister, Loes (portrayed by Loïs Beekhuizen). Upon arrival, Casper’s mother establishes an organic grocery shop in the village, while his father undertakes the restoration of the mill.
Although the rest of the family adapts enthusiastically to their new surroundings, Casper initially regards the transition with frustration and disinterest. His outlook shifts when he encounters Ava and Zazu, two unusual figures who reveal themselves to be angels. Having become lost and crash‑landed on Earth, they possess magical abilities yet require assistance to return to their celestial home. Casper readily commits himself to aiding them, finding purpose and excitement in the task.
Meanwhile, Casper’s mother becomes embroiled in a dispute with the antagonistic manager of the neighbouring supermarket, who disapproves of her organic products and attempts to undermine her business. This conflict unfolds alongside Casper’s efforts to help Ava and Zazu, intertwining domestic challenges with the story’s fantastical elements.
Note: The show is not to be confused with Casper the Friendly Ghost, a US franchise.
