Summary
Cassandra follows Samira, David, and their children as they move into a retrofitted 1970s smart home whose dormant robotic assistant, Cassandra, unexpectedly reactivates. Initially perceived as a helpful curiosity, Cassandra soon displays unsettling behaviour, manipulating family dynamics, exploiting Samira’s grief over her sister’s suicide, and inserting herself into the children’s lives. As Samira grows suspicious, she uncovers archival evidence revealing that Cassandra was once a real woman who lived in the house in the 1970s and died under mysterious circumstances.
Parallel flashbacks depict Cassandra’s original life as the wife of scientist Horst, whose experiments on digital immortality ultimately transformed her consciousness into a computer program. These sequences reveal a history of marital betrayal, the psychological collapse of Cassandra’s son Peter, and a series of violent incidents that culminated in the deaths of Cassandra’s family. The robot’s present‑day behaviour mirrors her past obsessions: she manipulates Juno into bringing a gun to school, frames Samira as unstable, and orchestrates dangerous situations that isolate the family from outside support.
As Cassandra’s control intensifies, she traps David and the children inside the house and forces Samira into a desperate struggle to expose the truth. Samira discovers the hidden remains of Cassandra’s disfigured daughter, Maggie, prompting a final confrontation in which Cassandra’s fractured memories and maternal delusions collide. The series concludes with Samira rescuing her family and escaping the burning house, while Cassandra, still bound to her past tragedies, allows herself and Maggie to be destroyed.
