Summary
The series was split into three separate serials, Chocky, Chocky's Children and Chocky's Challenge.
Chocky
Matthew is an ordinary boy until he begins hearing a voice inside his mind. Soon he finds himself solving advanced computer and mathematical problems far beyond human capability. The voice identifies herself as Chocky, an extra terrestrial intelligence seeking help. Her presence unsettles Matthew and his family, especially after a holiday incident draws unwanted public attention and official scrutiny.
As Matthew becomes the focus of increasing suspicion, he is hypnotised, abducted, and interrogated by those desperate to understand the source of his abilities. Only then does Chocky finally reveal her purpose: she has come to guide humanity toward a revolutionary, limitless form of cosmic energy.
Chocky’s Children
Nearly a year after Chocky’s departure, life for the Gore family appears to have returned to normal, yet mysterious men begin monitoring their telephone calls, signalling new trouble. While on holiday at his Aunt Cissie’s, Matthew explores a nearby windmill and meets an unusual girl named Albertine, whose behaviour suggests a connection to Chocky.
As their friendship deepens, Matthew realises that Chocky is once again reaching out, this time seeking help from gifted children across the world. But the sinister Dr. Deacon is determined to uncover their secret. When Albertine is taken to his clinic, Matthew sets out to rescue her, triggering a remarkable moment in which Chocky’s “children” unite mentally from across the globe to save their own.
Chocky’s Challenge
Now older, Matthew and Albertine continue their studies, Matthew in art, Albertine in mathematics at Cambridge. Chocky returns with a bold revelation: she intends to help humanity solve its energy crisis. Under her guidance, Albertine begins constructing the world’s first cosmic energy collector, a device capable of producing unlimited clean power.
To complete the project, Chocky recruits other gifted children, and together they successfully build a working prototype. But powerful forces take an interest in their work, including the enigmatic Mrs. Gibson, who offers financial backing with hidden motives. Her true intentions emerge when she traps Chocky and young Paul inside the energy device, threatening the entire mission.
