Summary
An unidentified object strikes the International Space Station, resulting in the death of one of the five crew members and causing extensive damage to critical systems, including one of the station’s two Soyuz descent modules. With only a single functional vehicle remaining, three of the surviving astronauts undertake an emergency evacuation to Earth, leaving Swedish astronaut Johanna “Jo” Ericsson of the European Space Agency aboard the crippled station to restore the damaged Soyuz craft.
Ericsson eventually completes the repairs and returns to Earth, transporting the body of her deceased crewmate. Upon arrival, she discovers profound discrepancies in her personal life: events, relationships, and memories appear altered or missing, suggesting a disjunction between her recollections and the reality she encounters.
