Summary
Alma Ortega, a trained medic, emerges as a symbolic figure of resilience within the demilitarized zone established on Manhattan Island following the outbreak of the Second American Civil War. While providing aid to the civilian population trapped within the contested territory, she undertakes a personal quest to locate her missing son, who became separated from her during their evacuation.
