Summary
The series centres on 17‑year‑old Canadian student Josh Wheeler, an outsider navigating post‑apocalyptic Glendale, California, as he searches for his missing British girlfriend, Sam Dean. Josh forms an uneasy alliance with a disparate group of survivors, including Angelica, a precocious ten‑year‑old with a penchant for fire, and Wesley, his former high‑school tormentor who has reinvented himself as a pacifist, self‑styled samurai.
Together, they attempt to endure a landscape dominated by Mad Max‑inspired factions, from violent jock warbands to Amazonian cheerleader tribes, as well as Ghoulies, zombie‑like victims of the catastrophe, and the enigmatic figure known as Baron Triumph. Stability is further undermined by Turbo, the jocks’ brutal and increasingly unhinged leader, whose authoritarian rule threatens the survival of the remaining community.
