Summary
A freak laboratory accident causes the antagonists from a virtual‑reality video game to manifest in the real world. These are not ordinary foes; they are drawn from the deepest anxieties of Dr. Gus Lloyd, including his tyrannical former employer, his overbearing ex‑mother‑in‑law, and the divorce lawyer who once dismantled his marriage.
