Summary
A series of cyborgs is created, each engineered to command a specific form of energy. For reasons known only to their creators, the team is given a unifying motif based on playing cards. Goro, the Spade Ace (Tanba), wields atomic energy, firing it as arrow‑like blasts from his bow. Former boxer Ryu, the Diamond Jack (Ito), controls electricity, channelling it through his Elecky Sword. Bunta, the Clover King (Kazato), manipulates gravitational force, using his Crab Megaton, a heavy, chained weight spun overhead, as his primary weapon.
Karen, the Heart Queen (Love), commands magnetic energy, focusing it through her Heart Q, a large pink “Q” emblem. The team is led by Sokichi, known as Big One (Miyauchi, already familiar to fans from Gorenger). Using his specialised staff, Big One can combine the four elemental energies of his teammates, transforming JAKQ into a formidable unified force. Their signature vehicles are primarily cars, though Clover King rides a motorcycle, all of which can dock with their airborne mothership, the Sky Ace.
The JAKQ team faces Iron Claw (Ishibashi), an international arms dealer and drug trafficker who leads the global crime syndicate CRIME. Known for his sequinned cape and improbably large Afro, Iron Claw commands two classes of minions typical of Super Sentai: faceless foot soldiers (the Jokes) and elaborately costumed “monster of the week” adversaries, each of whom inevitably fails to overcome the steadfast heroes.
