Summary
Department S is an Interpol division based in Paris and directed by Sir Curtis Seretse. The unit specialises in international cases that defy conventional investigation, often involving unusual or inexplicable circumstances, such as an aircraft landing without passengers or a government official found mysteriously reduced to a skeleton.
The team is led operationally by Stewart Sullivan, a pragmatic former FBI agent who handles most fieldwork. He is supported by Jason King, an adventure novelist whose imaginative thinking aids case analysis and who provides occasional comic relief, and Annabelle Hurst, a computer specialist and analyst who also undertakes undercover assignments. Subtle romantic tension between Sullivan and Hurst recurs throughout the series.
