Summary
Private investigator Kyoji (Masaki) maintains a precarious livelihood in downtown Yokohama, though his work extends far beyond conventional detective practice. He is the hereditary successor to his father’s devil‑summoning arts, granting him supernatural abilities that place him at the centre of a hidden conflict between humanity and demonic forces.
Assisted by Li (Kawai), a young shamaness, and her mother Mari (Sakurai), a seasoned sorceress, Kyoji confronts a range of occult crimes threatening the city. The early episodes introduce Kumiko (Nanami), a schoolgirl whose presence reawakens Kyoji’s dormant powers, as well as the emerging conspiracy of Princess Inaruna, a demonic sovereign intent on the destruction of Earth.
As the series progresses, additional youthful assistants join Kyoji’s investigations, while adversaries expand to include female Dark Summoners, miniskirted practitioners of forbidden magic who operate across unstable dimensional boundaries. Later story arcs also introduce the enigmatic male Dark Summoner Toichiro, portrayed by heart‑throb Anza Oyama, previously known for his leading role in the Sailor Moon musicals.
