Summary
The series follows a scientist who uncovers an ancient map indicating the location of a cave believed to lead toward the centre of the Earth. Accompanied by his cousin Dick Roudon, an experienced caver, he undertakes an expedition to investigate the site. Upon reaching the cave, the pair discover a vertical shaft that descends not into natural geology but into a concealed alien spacecraft buried deep underground.
Inside the vessel they encounter a group of bald extra-terrestrial beings from the planet Aralis. Led by an alien named Voxola, the Aralians are engaged in a systematic search for powerful crystalline materials. It soon becomes evident that their intentions are hostile: the aliens possess a specialised control helmet which, when placed over a human head, suppresses free will and compels obedience to their commands.
