Summary
The narrative is set in the near future and centres on Detective Li Xiao of the Taiwanese police, who is assigned to investigate a series of unexplained disappearances. One missing individual is eventually located, but the victim remains in a comatose state.
To facilitate communication with the comatose victim, the authorities enlist Professor Cheng, the creator of an advanced device capable of accessing an individual’s subconscious mind and entering their dream state. Although the use of this technology involves significant risk, it offers the potential to resolve otherwise intractable investigative problems.
In response to the growing number of cases, the police establish a specialised task force composed of scientific personnel and law‑enforcement officers. This unit employs the Dream Raider system to examine a wide range of criminal activities. Concurrently, a group of unidentified offenders appears to be exploiting the same technology for clandestine and illicit purposes.
