Summary
In the 25th century, specifically in the year 2484, humanity enjoys an era defined by peace, stability, and universal goodwill. This equilibrium is abruptly threatened when the Central Brain of Mankind (CML), the global supervisory supercomputer, announces the approach of a massive celestial object on a direct collision course with Earth. The impact is deemed unavoidable, and projections indicate that a substantial portion of the planet will be destroyed.
Amid the crisis, Professor Filip, biographer of the renowned physicist Adam Bernau, proposes an extraordinary solution: travel into the past. Bernau, a Nobel Prize–winning mathematician and physicist of the 20th and 21st centuries, claimed in his memoirs that as a child he devised a formula capable of shifting continents, worlds, and even entire planets. Recovering this lost formula could save Earth.
Professor Filip assembles a four‑member expeditionary team to journey into the past. Although the mission is intended to last only a few minutes, unforeseen complications force the travellers to remain in the past for several weeks.
