Summary
One of the more imaginative theories surrounding the Bermuda Triangle proposes the existence of a time‑space warp that transports its victims into another dimension. This premise formed the basis of an American adventure series in which a small scientific expedition sets out across the Caribbean to investigate a natural phenomenon known as “red tide.” Aboard the yacht operated by Ben Wallace and his mate, Carl Johanson, are science professor Paul Jordan; his teenage son, Scott; Eve Costigan; Dr. Fred Walters; medical adviser Jill Sands; and two research assistants, Andy and George.
Shortly after departure, the vessel is engulfed by a mysterious green cloud accompanied by clanging bells, and a sudden storm capsizes the boat. The two assistants are lost, while the remaining members wash ashore on a strange island where they encounter Varian, a man from the 23rd century whose spacecraft has crashed, leaving him stranded. After an encounter with Sir James Camden and his band of Elizabethan privateers, the group divides. Varian, Scott, and Dr. Fred continue onward into the subsequent episodes, joined by two additional companions: Liana, a half‑human, half‑alien woman, and Willoway, a scientist from the 1960s. Together, they traverse a series of shifting time zones in search of a route home.
