Summary
Three years after a perilous deep‑space mining mission, the sole surviving commander returns to Earth insane and confined to a secure asylum, guarding a secret he refuses to reveal. When archaeologist Lloyd Walker and entomologist Marianne Winters investigate a wave of disappearances and strange incidents in San Francisco, they uncover an underground colony of insectoid aliens harvesting human bodies.
Their discovery leads them to Liz, the aliens’ Earthbound Queen, who has infiltrated the mayor’s office and installed alien impostors throughout the city’s leadership. With authorities compromised, Lloyd and Marianne turn to Phillips, the imprisoned mission commander whose altered blood holds the key to stopping the invaders. They must reach him before he becomes the subject of a fatal alien experiment.
As the Selenites’ human harvest accelerates toward apocalyptic scale, the fight for survival erupts into a battle between humanity and a ruthless insect civilisation.
