Summary
Set in the 25th century, the series centres on the interplanetary merchant vessel Voyager, which undertakes hazardous journeys through asteroid fields, temporal distortions, and black‑hole phenomena under the nominal supervision of SID, a domineering Space Investigation Detector computer. The ship is operated by a three‑person crew, Captain Pettifer, Second Officer Morton, and Communications Officer Webster, the latter replaced in the second season by Mr Elliott.
Their missions are complicated by encounters with eccentric extra-terrestrial beings and by the accidental arrival of Miss Mabel Appleby, who is transported aboard following a time‑warp malfunction. The crew is persistently pursued by a notorious space pirate and his deteriorating robotic minions.
