Summary
The Maku Space Crime Organization launches its campaign of conquest by destroying a space colony before establishing a covert base on Earth. Their activities attract the pursuit of Gavan (Oba), a half‑alien interstellar law‑enforcement officer who is determined to defend the planet, the birthplace of his mother. Equipped with high‑powered combat armour, Gavan is able to confront the diverse monsters deployed by Maku, including mutated terrestrial animals, a sea creature preying upon Japanese shipping, and an operative who wields an ancient alien helmet capable of rendering its wearer invisible.
The Maku forces employ a wide range of subversive strategies. These include abducting pacifists to provoke militant factions into seizing governmental authority (a tactic reminiscent of Phantom Agents), establishing schools intended to indoctrinate children as future foot soldiers (comparable to Challenge from the Future), and manipulating the media to portray Gavan as a child kidnapper rather than a protector.
