Summary

Schoolgirl Moe Mikasa (Fukiishi) is plagued by a series of unsettling, recurring dreams. She joins her friends Hitomo (Sudo), Ayako (Kimura), and Yuji (Hashi) for what is ostensibly a picnic, though their real purpose is to investigate whether a recent “meteorite” that landed in Shinrin Park might in fact be a UFO. When they arrive, the park has been cordoned off, and after witnessing a luminous object streak across the sky, the group is suddenly pursued by armed operatives. Moe escapes with the aid of Yuji and her journalist uncle Akira (Nishimura), only to return home and discover that her parents have been murdered by the serial killer Ko (Uno).

Forced into flight and hunted by a mysterious woman named Rio (Mano), Moe learns that she was adopted and that, as a child, she was abducted by aliens and injected with the Ekidona virus. Developed by Kirigami (Horiguchi), head of the Vector Life Science Laboratory, and his lover Aso (Nagasogabe), Ekidona fuses human and extraterrestrial DNA. Individuals only partially affected by the virus become android‑like mutants, as seen in Ko and Rio. Moe, however, is the virus’s original vector and possesses the potential to evolve into a “living goddess,” a transformation Kirigami intends to control for his own purposes.

Ko, despite his mutation, attempts to protect Moe from Kirigami’s plans. Meanwhile, Aso secretly approaches Rio, urging her to create more powerful hybrids in an effort to outmanoeuvre Kirigami and seize control of the project.
