Summary
Ghosts follows Alison Cooper, who unexpectedly inherits the deteriorating Button House from a distant relative. Hoping to transform the property into a luxury hotel, Alison and her husband Mike move into the mansion despite its poor condition and mounting financial challenges. Unbeknownst to them, the estate is inhabited by a group of ghosts from different historical periods, all of whom died on the grounds and remain bound to the property.
Initially hostile to the couple's plans, the ghosts attempt to drive them away. During one such effort, Alison is injured and experiences a near-death event that leaves her with the unique ability to see and communicate with the spirits. After struggling to accept her newfound gift, she gradually learns the histories and personalities of the house's supernatural residents and comes to understand their inability to leave the estate.
As Alison and Mike face the practical difficulties of maintaining Button House and securing its financial future, they are forced to coexist with the ghosts. Over time, the relationship between the living and the dead evolves from mutual antagonism into an unconventional partnership, with the residents of different eras becoming an integral part of the couple's efforts to preserve the house and navigate everyday life.
