Summary
Ginormo is a science-fiction comedy series that parodies Japanese monster films and television programmes of the 1960s and 1970s. Designed to emulate the production techniques of that era, the series uses practical effects such as monster suits, miniature sets, model spacecraft, and deliberately stylised dialogue to recreate the look and feel of classic tokusatsu productions.
Presented as a fictional lost television series produced in 1972, Ginormo is framed as a programme that was never broadcast. Through its self-referential format, the series pays tribute to the craftsmanship and storytelling conventions of pre-digital special effects entertainment while simultaneously satirising the genre's distinctive style and tropes.
