Summary
James Hayes, a police officer in the small rural town of Yoorana, Victoria, is summoned to the local cemetery late one night after an unusual disturbance is reported. Upon arrival, he discovers several individuals who have inexplicably risen from the dead. Though physically healthy, they possess no memory of their identities, personal histories, or the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Determined to uncover the truth, the group begins piecing together fragments of their pasts, gradually realising that their lives, and deaths, are interconnected in unexpected ways. Hayes, fearing public panic and professional scrutiny, attempts to conceal the phenomenon from his colleagues, his family, and the wider world. He receives covert assistance from Dr. Elishia McKellar, a local physician who becomes deeply involved in both the medical and ethical implications of the case.
As the resurrected individuals search for answers, it becomes clear that someone holds knowledge about the cause of their return. The investigation expands beyond the boundaries of Yoorana, revealing a larger mystery that challenges the natural order and threatens to upend the lives of everyone involved.
