Summary
A century after a cataclysm plunges Earth into darkness and a permanent ice age, humanity survives in isolated stations linked by a vast railway network and ruled by powerful railway companies. These authorities claim the sun has died, but resistance groups known as the Renewers still believe it can return. The story follows Cal Ragg and his friends Suki and Kurt Masters, residents of the Grand Star station, as they uncover hidden truths about the world, encounter the mysterious People of the Cold, and pursue Cal’s conviction that the sun can be restored.
