Summary
Set in 1945, during the period in which Gyeongseong (the former name of Seoul) remained under occupation by the Imperial Japanese Army, the narrative examines the severe abuses committed against the civilian population. These include the covert detention of men and women for clandestine biological experimentation, the emergence of organised resistance movements opposing Japanese authority, and the creation of a monstrous entity resulting from human experimentation. The storyline draws thematic inspiration from the historical Unit 731, a secret Japanese military division that conducted biological and chemical weapons testing on civilians during the Second World War.
