Summary
The series follows an alien family from the planet Zyrgon who flee their home world after the father is caught manipulating computer systems to win the lottery repeatedly. Led by their eldest daughter X, the family travels “halfway across the galaxy and turn left” to reach Earth, settling in Bellwood, Australia, where they attempt to blend in while hiding their extra-terrestrial origins. Adopting the surname Jackson, the parents become Renee and Mortimer, while their children take the names Charlotte (X), Estrella (Dovis), and George (Quark).
On Zyrgon, families are organised by a trained family organiser rather than by parents, leaving X responsible for keeping the household functioning on Earth, especially as both parents prove unreliable. The family claims to be from Peru, the children enrol in school, and X befriends neighbours Jenny and Colin Roland, who eventually learn the truth.
The Jacksons struggle to adapt to human customs, a challenge made more difficult when visitors from Zyrgon, Aunt Hecla and family friend Lox, arrive and cause chaos. Meanwhile, the family remains under threat from the Chief, head of Zyrgon’s security forces, who is determined to capture X and her father after being humiliated by their escape. By the twelfth episode, the family believes they have finally evaded him.
