Summary
CDC investigators Dr. Alan Farragut and Dr. Sarah Jordan respond to a viral outbreak at an Arctic research station operated by the Ilaria Corporation. They soon discover that Ilaria is conducting illicit genetic‑engineering experiments and is intent on hiding its work rather than resolving the crisis. Two virus strains emerge: Narvik‑A, which is universally lethal, and Narvik‑B, which produces violent, infectious vectors, some of whom can be cured and subsequently exert control over the infected.
The outbreak is revealed to be a deliberate scheme to use Julia Walker as a test subject. After infection, she is cured by station director Hiroshi Hatake, who discloses that he is her immortal father and that the virus was designed to activate her latent genes. Ilaria, run by other immortals, seeks the virus for global domination. Their COO, Constance Sutton, arrives with mercenaries, kills most personnel, and abducts Julia. A later time jump shows Alan in France during a global outbreak, unaware that Peter and Julia are now aligned with Ilaria.
