Summary
In a retrofuturistic setting, Jack Billings oversees a travelling sales operation that markets non‑existent lunar timeshares to residents across Earth. The business functions as a fraudulent enterprise in which Jack compensates his employees from customer payments while retaining the surplus and relocating frequently to avoid detection. The promised rocket launch to the Moon is repeatedly deferred, as no such relocation will ever occur.
While operating in one particular town, Jack discovers that one of the local residents, Joey, is his estranged son, though Joey is unaware of their familial connection. Jack employs Joey within the sales team and elects to remain in the town temporarily. He subsequently attempts to disclose their relationship while simultaneously managing the increasing instability of his fraudulent venture.
